A Blast To Listen To
5 out of 5 stars
Sometimes Fantasy books take a while to grow on me. Other times they capture me within the first moments and hold on throughout the entire book. Gualtieri and Carr team up perfectly here and wrote a book that felt seamless and incredibly well thought out.
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what I was getting into while reading this. I saw a story that sounded interested narrated by a great narrator, how could I go wrong? Well, this story was a blast from beginning to end. It made me cry, laugh, and everything in between. It honestly made me slightly introspective upon finishing it. (I won’t go into why, but the journey of Jessie throughout this book was thought out and perfectly executed.
Jessie was one of those memorable characters. She really jumped off of the pages at me. I really liked her struggles and battles. I thought they were perfectly human and really made Jessie turn from a character in a book to one of those that feel like they’re telling you a story in your living room.
I originally had a rating of 4.5 in my head – but after re-thinking about the breadth of characters in Savior with the comedic effect parts (they show up often enough that I always felt like I was smiling like an idiot while listening to this) this is a definite 5 star book. Gualtieri and Carr’s writing was excellent and a blast to read.
Andrea Emmes absolutely crushes the narration of this. Savior allowed her to show off her vocal muscles voicing everything from Teenage girls to (angry) talking otters. Her narration absolutely crushes it. She liked this project and you could feel it. Her passion for this story oozed out my headphones.

Jessie Flores is having the ultimate bad hair day.
Imagine going to bed with mousy brown locks and waking up with a headful of supernova scarlet. It's a hot new look for me - literally, because it bursts into flames whenever I'm threatened.
My magical makeover is all Gary's fault. I knew there was something off from the moment he transferred to my school. Go figure. He's a wizard with a trust fund and an inferiority complex.
Now, thanks to him, I've graduated from high school bullies to supernatural terrors and that's not all. Fate has chosen me to face the legendary vampire destined to destroy the world.
If I want to survive, I'll have to dig deep and discover whether I'm truly worthy of this new power. Because if not, everything I hold dear will soon burn even hotter than my hair.
