I’m Brian, an audiobook reviewer at it since 2015 (@brians_books on most socials). I’ve written 1,546 (and counting) reviews on Goodreads.
I started writing book reviews, especially audiobook ones, because I saw the void. Most reviews only talked about the book, never the narrator or the quality. I think that my favorite part about it is that, along the way, it turned into something.
Blackstone Publishing uses Brian’s Book Blog as a named curatorial source, seeing “A Brian’s Book Blog Pick of New & Notable Audiobooks” still kind of blows my mind.
My editorial reviews appear on product pages at Amazon, Blackstone Publishing, Indigo/Chapters, Goodreads, Bookshop.org, and Tantor, for titles including the Hell Divers and Sons of War series by Nicholas Sansbury Smith, The Sail by Landon Beach, and books by Nick Sullivan, among others. Pull quotes from my reviews have ended up on audiobook covers and inside of paperbacks.
Outside of my reviews…
- I’ve been a guest on the Audiobook Speakeasy podcast (Episode 50)
- I did a video interview about audiobook reviewing
- And I’m listed among the top audiobook review sites by Medium
I work with publishers including Tantor, Blackstone, Dreamscape, and Penguin Random House. If they send me something and I don’t like it, I say so.

Hey, Brian.
To young ears, Seuss is the master of poetic rhythm. He made me fall in love with words, too. Though I am curious what that “first book” was that you mentioned above. There’s a story there. I’m sure.
All the best,
Helen
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review of Splat! A Quirky Cat Audio Book!
Brian! thank you for all of the wonderful reviews you’ve done of my work. It is really appreciated.

Hey Mr. Heller, Thank you so much for visiting and for leaving such a gracious comment.
I love post-apocalyptic stories too. For me they’re the perfect combination of optimism and pessimism: yep, we’re gonna end the world, but maybe we’ll do better next time. My favorite end-of-the-world novel will always be A Canticle for Leibowitz, because it shows exactly how humans do (but mostly don’t) learn from their mistakes. As you can tell, I could talk about this stuff all day. 😀 Happy to have found your blog!
Hi Brian!
Thanks so much for your wonderful review of our (Mike Vendetti, Steven Jay Cohen, & Kathy Verduin) narration of The Great Gatsby! We appreciate it very much!
Thanks for the love and support on my book. Made my day. Thank you.
Hi Brian,
Over the years I have seen people
Post your reviews and I just wanted to drop a note of thanks for the work you do here. Not everyone knows how to do a review and you really give a lovely synopsis and flavor of each book.
Thank you!

Cat! Thank you so much! I always look to tag you on socials and can never seem to find you. I’m glad my reviews still made their way to you though!
