The government seemed a little too ready…
4 out of 5 stars
A short intro into what could happen if an EMP went off over the Midwest. Conspiracy theories always ran deep in those individuals who thought this day would come, but they couldn’t even begin to imagine what would come next.
The narration for Strike Point Blackout was done by the prepper/post-apocalyptic voice himself, Kevin Pierce. Pierce does a wonderful job bringing life to these characters, especially the main character John. Pierce just has one of those “manly — everything will be okay” kinds of voices. Even when the characters are going through hell, Pierce’s smooth voice makes you feel like they will make it out.
I knew going into it at in between 3 and 4 hours long that Blackout wasn’t going to be a full in depth story about the attack or the people who survived it. But, there still was some character development and some nice plot movement too. The reader will definitely have questions, but Hawk answered more than I was expecting in this intro book.
Honestly, I usually give “Part 1” type books a bad wrap on here because I really hate when someone breaks a story up into small pieces, but this was really nice. I’d been feeling burned out with my reviews lately and this was the perfect happy medium in between bigger heavier books. Hawk made me understand what was going on and who was going to be important in the books to come and I was able to finish this book in one afternoon.
Overall, other than the length (which could upset some people), this book had a lot of good stuff in it. Hawk definitely knows about character development and plot movement, and I hope to see what else happens (and maybe even find out about who planned and executed the attacks).

"If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy." - James Madison
There were many that said it would happen. No one listened.
Was it true that ISIS set off multiple EMP's across the USA, taking out the entire power grid? Or was that just a cover up?
John and Laura Monroe are stuck on a train that has come to its final stop 150 miles from home. With no communications, and strange storms taking over the skies, every decision they make could be the difference between life or death.

Hi Folks. I know I’m supposed to put some kind of glowing synopsis of myself here, but quite frankly I’m just a regular person who likes to write about people and their challenges. My hope is that what I write will be entertaining and maybe even a little educational.
