Might Be Better Than Book One
4.5 out of 5 stars
I love the fact that this series sparked my interest. I don’t know why, but I really didn’t expect much. I guess it’s because I’d never heard of John Winchester before picking this up. The covers don’t really hint at what you’re getting into like some other in this genre, but man these stories really have been better than expected.
I hate wording it that way, it feels like I was being critical before I ever read them – but, to be honest, I was. Sometimes, we as readers, are over critical of a book because it doesn’t jump out at us, or scream our name. I knew I loved this genre and because of that I gave the EMP Aftermath series a shot – but man I’m glad I did.
Book two really dives into the action and takes us on an emotional ride. I think it would make a really cool tv show or even a movie (combining all three books into one full movie would probably be interesting). The writing style reminds me a bit of some of the other authors in this genre that I like, but it was unique as well.
Overall, this might have been better than the first book. Now that we know who everyone is we are able to dive into deeper and darker things without getting lost. The EMP Aftermath Series and especially Desperate Measures lived up to the hype that I gave it in my head.
Travis Baldree somehow outdid himself from the first book. I think he was even better in this one. He’s easily one of the most versatile narrators working today.
