The narration for Under A Tell Tale Sky was done by Kevin Pierce — my go-to when it comes to “Prepper” and post-apocalyptic fiction. He absolutely kills it again, able to tell this incredibly detailed and thought out story in a masterful way. Pierce has that perfect “manly” voice that goes along with this book perfectly. If you don’t believe me, check it out for yourself!
This book weaves in and out of different people but the main focus is on the ship Pecos Trader. The author has a large knowledge base when it comes to maritime writing and this is no different. But, it doesn’t get bogged down with unnecessary details either.
Wow, this book was incredibly detailed. I can definitely tell that McDermott put a ton of thought and research into this book. (This was also confirmed at the end with the author’s notes). But seriously, this book was almost too detailed. There was a ton going on from many points of view. Which made it an intense book to read.
But, I really felt like everything that happened in this book could or would actually happen if this event were to actually have taken place. All of the people and their actions felt very lifelike and made the story really intense and enjoyable.
Overall, Under A Tell Tale Sky was an excellent post-apocalyptic book full of great characters, great stories, and an even better use of real-world issues and problems.
