One Bed, One Blizzard, One Melted Heart

4 out of 5 stars

Trapped with the Ice Queen had me exactly where it wanted me: curled up, smirking, and totally invested. I went in cautiously, knowing the author’s previous books leaned heavier into kink than I usually prefer. But the cover was cute, the vibes were promising, and honestly, I’ll follow Lori Prince just about anywhere.

And I’m glad I did. Lori absolutely nails the narration (as always). Her ability to make Vivienne sound like an untouchable powerhouse and then subtly shift into a warmer, softer version of herself was perfection. That voice change alone could’ve melted a snowbank.

The story hits all the right forced-proximity beats: luxury SUV stuck in the snow, a cozy cabin with only one bed, and two wildly different women—one prickly, one grounded—being forced to cohabitate until the storm lets up. The slow thaw between them is sweet, snarky, and satisfying.

The story is, at its core, about healing—as ice queen romances often are—but this time, both characters are carrying emotional baggage. Vivienne hides behind her empire and need for control, while Alex, after reaching the pinnacle of success with Olympic gold, has retreated from the spotlight for her own reasons. Their journeys may be different, but they’re both learning to let someone in.

Spice-wise, this one’s hotter than a roaring fire in a log cabin. There’s definitely a little more kink and power play than I usually gravitate toward, but it never felt out of place for the characters. If you can handle a little extra heat, this is a solid sapphic winter romance that delivers both heart and heat.

Book Description:

A cozy cabin with only one bed, an ice queen CEO, and a snowstorm . . .

When high-maintenance CEO Vivienne Blackwood’s luxury Christmas getaway goes off the rails, she finds herself trapped in a cozy cabin during a snowstorm with the grumpy yet very attractive Olympic snowboarder Alex Carter. As an ice queen who hates everything about Christmas, Vivienne clashes with Alex’s down-to-earth, no-nonsense attitude, but they’re stuck sharing a bed in close quarters. With forced proximity, witty banter, and undeniable chemistry, this ice queen romance heats up as Vivienne begins to wonder if the woman she initially dismissed just might be the key to her icy heart.

Can a cozy cabin with a gorgeous snowboard champion in a snowstorm at Christmas melt even the coldest of hearts?
