Author: T.B. Markinson
T.B. Markinson is an American writer based in Massachusetts. She has been lucky enough to travel the world, and even lived in Britain for six years and Ireland for eighteen months. When she isn’t writing, she’s visiting historical sites in New England, watching sports on the telly, hiking, or reading. Not necessarily in that order.
She co-owns the website I Heart SapphFic with Miranda MacLeod.
And for the curious folks, here’s a more personalized version.
I realized early that life is short. Yet that didn’t stop me from wasting many years focusing on the negative instead of the positive. I spent way too much time studying in college instead of having fun. I regret that now.
In my mid-twenties, I found out I had Graves’ disease, a treatable illness but one with no cure. After years of battling the illness, I went into remission, and there’s a possibility of lifelong remission (going on fifteen+ years as of writing this).
Learning I had a disease that wanted to kill me put life into perspective. Slowly, I started to make changes. I stopped driving my car and rode my bike or walked when possible. I went hiking more. Read more. I spent more time with friends, going to dinner and to the movies. My life became peaceful. I felt wonderful.
More importantly, I realized it was now or never to chase my writing dream.
I caught the writing bug when I was eleven, but didn’t publish my first novel until I was thirty-nine.
That first book put me on the path of writing full time and in the summer of 2023, I celebrated ten years of being an indie author.
I’m passionate about writing, but I’m equally passionate about supporting sapphic fiction. This led me to found I Heart SapphFic, a website dedicated to women-loving-women stories, in 2017. One of my goals in life is to spread rainbows in this world. Visibility and representation matters.
