I’ve always had a soft spot for stories that bring together two people from completely different worlds, especially when one of them is wrapped up so tightly in their work that they forget to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Doctor Torres by Clara Ann Simons, narrated by the ever-talented April Doty, is exactly that kind of story—and it’s delivered with a blend of warmth and sincerity that left me smiling long after I finished listening.
From the moment Nicole Hunt, the lively and dynamic health and wellness podcaster, stepped into Dr. Ines Torres’s meticulously controlled life, I was hooked. Nicole’s effervescent personality is the perfect foil to Dr. Torres’s steely, work-centered existence.

Instead, the focus is on the gradual, mutual discovery of what really matters in life. There’s plenty of emotional depth here, with both characters dealing with their own past tragedies, but it’s the triumph of love and happiness that shines brightest.
